How To Measure a Motorcycle Helmet

While riding a motorcycle, wearing a helmet can protect you from traumatic brain injury. Helmets for motocross can be well equipped with safety technology but cannot provide effective protection unless are properly sized. A motorbike helmet should either be too loose nor too tight, despite the racing helmet is usually tighter. Most common way to determine a motocross helmet’s size is to measure the circumference of your head, but there is no substitute for trying on a helmet yourself. The following are tips to measure a suitable helmet for yourself.

Measuring Your Size

  • Measuring with a soft measuring tape will be perfect, but if you don't have one, you can also use a thin string or phone charger cable and then measure with a ruler or hard measuring tape.
  • Place measuring tape around the widest part of the head where a helmet is worn-usually. This will be just above the ears and about a half inch above the eyebrows. Then run the tape past the top of your ears to the back of your head then carry on round back to the start.
  • Measure it couple times, in order to get the most accurate size.
  • Measuring by yourself may be a challenge, ask someone else for help.

With all measurements done, you can compare your measurements with the sizing charts we have on the page for each Just 1 product as shown in the figure. Each motorbike helmet size range alternates shell sizes to optimize the fit of the helmet to each individual's head, you can choose different series and sizes that fit you and meet your needs.

Try On a Helmet Yourself

It's important to remember that we all have different head shapes. To choose the helmet size that actually fits you, nothing can replace trying it on.

  • A helmet should fit snug on your head. If it moves while wearing, it is too large.

  • Grab the back and bottom of the helmet and try to push upward. Then try to push the helmet from under the chin guard. If the helmet starts to come off, you will need to get a smaller helmet.

  • The head is bent forward as far as possible and the chin guard should not touch the chest. Then do the same backwards. Again, your helmet should not touch your back.

Wear a Helmet Correctly

Even if you find the perfect size to fit in, still have to notice these details.

  • Check the helmet or have it inspected before each use. It can be cracked or changed in shape over time, especially after a serious impact to the helmet.

  • Make sure your hair or bread is not wrapped inside your helmet. It can cause your helmet to wobble or even pop out in the event of an accident.

  • Do not add extra padding that doesn't match the helmets. It may change the size and shape of the helmet, which could be very dangerous.
